He Said What?!
In an interview with Katie Couric from CBS News, Joe Biden said that during the depression, Roosevelt went on television and spoke to the American people. The problem with that statement is that the President was Hubert Hoover, not Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who wasn’t elected until 1932. There also weren’t any televisions at that time, the big thing was radio. Television didn’t come along for almost twenty years. While it was invented in the 20s, it didn’t gain popularity in our homes until the 50s. So neither Hoover or Roosevelt were ever on television talking to the public during their administrations. It amazes me that people are in such an uproar about Sarah Palin being a heartbeat from the Presidency, and there seems to be little concern about this man being so near to that office.
Joe Biden has made numerous errors in statements and judgment during his long career in the US Senate, and this is no surprise that he can’t go a day without making an error in both arenas. He has also said that Hillary would have been a better choice as VP for Obama, and I agree with him completely on that point. The thought of giving this man a higher office frightens me to no end. We need a VP that we won’t have to worry about when he or she runs off to meet some head of state, and Sarah Palin would be a stable choice in that department, even if you don’t agree with her on all points. At least you know she isn’t going to asking a wheelchair bound person to stand up and introduce themselves, as Joe Biden did a week ago.
I can’t believe anyone could seriously consider the Obama-Biden ticket as a viable alternative for the highest office in the land. We need real leadership, not a paper tiger. We can see the differences in their actions this week. McCain left the campaign to go and do his job, and fix the greatest crisis in our economy since the depression. This crisis is a direct result from the actions of the democrats, who blocked fixing problems in the mortgage industry, specifically with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, in 2005, when the Republican led committee put forward a plan to fix it then. All the Republicans voted in favor of it, and the Democrats voting against it, killing the measure before it made it to the Senate floor. This whole problem started as a direct result from actions taken by Obama and his party. We can not reward this man with a promotion for doing little to nothing to help this country, both today and in the past.
Wake up, America!
Honor & Integrity
One of the most important things in my life has been to maintain honor and integrity in all things that I do. I have had my share of challenges, and sometimes I have fallen, but I pick myself up and keep myself focused on making sure that no matter what comes against me, that I will do my best to fight honorably. But in this contest for President, this concept has gone out the windows on the left side. While the Republicans, except for a few small groups, have done an admirable job in keeping the fight to a minimum amount of low blows, the far left has done nothing but hit low. Just this week, I saw an ad for the “Hip-Hop Honors” on VH1 starring Tracey Morgan, where he joked about John McCain calling him a “short white dude that can only lift his arms this high” as he raised his arms tucked near his chest. Joking about a person’s disability is never funny in my book, and if this fool had ever had a disability, he would see just how much this ISN’T funny. It makes it even worse when you consider that John McCain received that disability through the years of torture in a Vietnamese prison camp. I bet Tracey Morgan wouldn’t be laughing so much if he had to endure a small percentage of time in that place.
If this were a remote example it wouldn’t be as much of a big deal to me, but all you have to do is pick up any magazine, from Time to People, and they are all obviously pushing Obama and slamming McCain. It is the same on TV and radio, except for a few islands of fairness, such as FOX News and, well, FOX News. Not one other channel has taken a stand for an unbiased and fair reporting standard. NBC has literally opened an Obama for President headquarters on their network, and everywhere you look, they are pushing his agenda. They don’t take issue with the fact that while he was supposed to be so strong on the economy, he failed to put forward a plan when the crisis is most dire. This is a time to put all ideas on the table, and Obama failed once more to decide how he would stand. Once more he simply voted “present” and didn’t contribute to the discussion. Instead, he is waiting the situation out, to see where the other opinions take us, and then he will either attack them, if they didn’t work, or support them, if they did.
Obama is nothing more than the common left-wing politician. He isn’t change, he is the same, tired song, just with a strong ability to stir the pot with a good speech. But we don’t need great speeches, we need solid leadership, and if there is anything this past week showed us, it is that Obama is a follower, not a leader. He does what his party tells him to do, and rarely breaks from partisan politics. I hope that the bulk of America does what we need them to do this year, and vote John McCain into office, and show a clear sign to the liberals in the media that we will not buy their lies and deceptions. We will stand up for what is right for America. We will make up our own minds, and we don’t need them telling us what to think.
Who’s Questioning Patriotism Now?
I find it ironic that the same people who were up in arms over the topic of patriotism being question a few weeks ago, is now saying the a person is not patriotic if I don’t want to pay more taxes. A few weeks ago, Obama said a person’s patriotism should never be questioned, yet just yesterday, his running mate questioned our commitment to this country if we weren’t interested in having our hard earned money taken in higher quantities to be redistributed to whoever the democrats think should have it. Being the person who actually earned it, I should be the only one deserving those dollars. Why should I want to give more money to the most irresponsible Congress in the history of this country?
Maybe if I knew the money would truly be used for the common good of this country, and not just a means to buy more votes, I would have a different opinion. If the programs they were promoting were feasible, or showed some promise of a better day for the nation as a whole, not just a select group, I might feel differently about this. But until Congress gets something worthwhile passed, which they haven’t done in recent memory, I would rather keep my own money, and do what I know is best for me and my neighbors.
On top of this, Obama does nothing more than complain about McCain, aside from promising to raise taxes, and has yet to put forward a single plan that doesn’t have more holes than a block of Swiss cheese. If you look closely at his ideas, you would see the glaring flaws in them. But those that support him seem to have no concern about this little problem. They follow him like he is the new Messiah, and never once question him about what he is going to do and how he plans to make it work. The closest I have seen to this is when he was interviewed by Bill O’Reilly on FOX News, and he was only able to cover just a few subjects, and Obama stumbled and stammered his way through the whole interview. He didn’t know what to do with himself, since he had never had to answer the hard questions before. It was hilarious watching him try to get Bill to back off, and I have no doubt he regretted ever agreeing to the interview.
I find it hard to believe that so many people are following this man without seeing the serious damage Obama will do to this country, unless that is what they want. I do know there are those people that would like to see our country destroy itself, and they are all supporting Obama, and are hoping to get enough people behind them as well that won’t ask questions, but will simply follow them over the cliff’s edge. I hope my readers will take the time to see the problems that are there, and will step up and support the only candidate that will give our country the right kind of change, and that person is John McCain. I don’t completely support Mr. McCain, but I feel he is most definitely the lesser of two evils. He will do some good, and most importantly less harm, to our beloved country.
News from Hurricane Ike
We have many items still left in storage in the Houston area, since we moved from there several years ago, and haven’t had the time to go back and move them here with us. So we were naturally concerned when the news came of the landfall of hurricane Ike, and that the area we left our things received huge damage. We spent the last couple of days trying to get information, and it has been very frustrating to say the least. But we finally got the report today that our units are undamaged, and while it would be good to go check them, it sounds like all is still well there, for us at least. Our hearts go out to the thousands of people that have lost everything as a result of Ike’s landfall in Houston. We sit in wait for the next big hurricane, and hope to once again be spared from the destructive wrath of the storm.
An Answer to “Sexual UnIntelligence” on Sarah Palin’s Family
I was going to talk about the choice of Sarah Palin today, but when I saw WordPress had an so-called open letter to Sarah Palin, which was more a slam against her, and the Republican ticket, I felt it necessary to respond to it instead. First, I found the title of the Blog funny, since the writer missed everything we have said or thought about Sarah and her family. We have always embraced any woman or girl who picks life over murdering their baby to make their life more convenient. We do not embrace nor encourage the actions that brought her daughter to this place, but we support life above all else. If you truly took the time to understand the pro-life movement, you would understand that this is not a change in our stand, it is what it has always been about, and that is LIFE!
The reason we don’t support these so-called “Sexual Education” programs, it is because they actually teach children it is acceptable behavior for them to have sex before marriage, when we are trying to give them values to live by and teach them to hold off and wait until they are more mature before they reach this decision, which everyone knows is by far the best choice of all. Having sex before marriage is never a good option, and results in many problems and is still illegal behavior! Why should we support programs that teach our children to violate the law? That is like have a drug program that teaches them the right way to pick needles to inject the illegal drugs into their system, instead of simply telling them to just say “no” to drugs.
The one thing that has always amazed me about how the Democrats work, is they create these bills to put through the system, that on the surface might claim they are going to “give day care for poor people” and then when you dig into them, they actually have aspects that are going to test the DNA of polar bears, or something else we can live without and will eventually cost us billions in pork barrel spending. They know we as Republicans will vote against these bills, and then they tell the public we don’t want day care for poor people, when in fact, we would be glad to see that, if it where the only thing in the bill. I suggest everyone take the time to understand why they vote against this things, and don’t accept the claims of the Dems when they make these foolish claims.
No matter how much you wish on your lucky star, the fact that abortions are unsafe and many times a poorly handle procedure, will never cease to be true. I know people such as yourself would like the only claims on abortion to line up with your beliefs, but the facts don’t support that. The facts actually show they are unsafe, and are a threat to the health of the woman, and are in fact murdering an innocent life. There is nothing good about then, and they should never be made to be any less than the truth of what they are. If your convenience is more important than the life you are ending, then an abortion is for you. My mother had to sign a waiver to have me, and risked her own life to give me mine. So I have no place for someone who chooses a child’s death to protect their own. The doctors wanted to abort me, and my parents chose life, my life. Sometimes we must risk our own life to protect or give life to an innocent, and that is the noblest sacrifice of all. Fortunately, my mother survived, and lived a good life, even though the doctors said she wouldn’t live beyond that day.
Yes, we will always support life, and that is something we have always, and will always continue to support. There is no change in our policy, only your understanding of that policy. Somehow I doubt my answer to you will make the front page of WordPress, but hopefully some people will see it and this knowledge will get out to the public anyway. We have always celebrated life, wherever it is found. We don’t like to see teens getting pregnant, and I question anyone that sees that as good for our society. It is better that they learn the lessons taught by these situations, that teen parents have it tough in most cases. In most cases, the male involved takes off and doesn’t take responsibility for his actions, leaving the girl, and usually her parents, to raise the child on their own. But it is the right choice to keep the child, or at least put him or her up for adoption. There are thousands of people out there, like my wife and I, that would welcome the child into their home. I think the bigger lesson that Sarah Palin gives us is in the fact that she decided to keep her last child, who was diagnosed with Downs Syndrome, when many parents would have aborted him, like people such as yourself would have her do as well. I think we all should take a page from Sarah Palin’s book, and choose life above all else.
